The Secret to Soft Silky and Frizz Free Hair

Coppola Keratin Treatment: The Best Frizz Fighting Solution !

Coppola Keratin Treatment Before and AfterThe latest buzz in the beauty industry is the Coppola Keratin Treatment. It was recently showcased on “The View” as a great new keratin based solution to smooth dry, frizzy or curly hair.

Who Should Use this Keratin Complex Treatment?

Anyone who wants to smooth frizzy hair or tame curly locks can use it. It will keep your hair smooth, and make straightening easier. If you love your curls, this will help them stay bouncy and gorgeous without the extra frizz. Coppola Keratin Treatment works great for ethnic hair too!

Why Does it Work?

Keratin is a naturally occurring protein found in our hair skin and nails. This, overtime and because of other products we use, will deplete from the hair. The Coppola Keratin Treatment brings life back into our locks by restoring the keratin which creates lustrous and shiny hair that is still very manageable.

How Much Will it Cost?

Prices vary by salon, but you can also find great deals online for Coppola Keratin Treatment and other Keratin Smoothing Products. Those with medium length hair can expect to get 2 rounds of treatment from one 8oz bottle.

The Pros And Cons of Coppola Keratin Treatment:

This gel based product is Formaldehyde free, unlike other straightening treatments. The Coppola Keratin Treatment does contain a small amount of an organic aldehyde compound though, which has the same effect. This makes this product less irritating and noxious to most. After application on the hair, you will need to keep it moisture free and straight for 72 hours.

Other straightening methods such as the Brazilian Blowout or the Japanese Straightener are well known for the same thing. The Japanese method is more costly, and uses more chemicals but last longer. The blowout will not last as long as Coppola keratin treatment, but does the job.

Some solutions will not last as long, and it becomes noticeable when the untreated hair starts to grow out. This is not an issue with the Coppola Keratin Treatment. Women desire silky smooth locks and this method delivers! While it is not an actual “straightener”, it will kill the frizzy dry look, and it does calm the curls for at least 4-6 months time, with minimal upkeep.

How The Treatment is Applied:

The first step is shampooing the hair with a clarifying shampoo, then lightly blow dry. The Keratin Complex treatment is then applied to the hair with a brush, much like hair dye, and combed through. A plastic cap is placed over the hair and the treatment must set for about twenty minutes. After setting, the hair is blow dried again and then flat ironed to “set” the hair. Once the hair is treated, it needs to remain straight and dry for 72 hours

Aftercare Instructions:

Keep hair completely dry and straight for 72 hours. No ponytails, clips or bobby pins ladies! Also, if you do accidentally get hair wet, please blow dry and flat iron it ASAP.

Use sodium chloride free shampoos and conditioners, like the Keratin Complex Shampoo + Conditioner Duo. Also, there are deep conditioners and replenishers to keep the texture. You should also wear a cap when swimming in pools or the ocean.

Get your hair cut after the Coppola Keratin Treatment, but colored before. If you do need color after the infusion, wait about 2 weeks to do it so you do not diminish the effect.

How To Maintain the Coppola Keratin Treatment:Coppola Keratin Treatment

For upkeep of the Coppola Keratin Treatment, there are many keratin based products to use that are designed to help your hair treatment last. Coppola has created shampoos, conditioners, daily moisturizing solutions and other items to make it easy for you to maintain the results

The best way to maintain the Coppola keratin treatment over time is to use with other Coppola Keratin Treatment products, such as the Keratin Complex Care Shampoo + Care Conditioner Duo

Keratin Hair Treatment is one of the Hair care processes which are becoming more popular at the present time.
Most parlors barber shops and hair salons are able to offer specific forms of this treatment to everybody, since it has already shown that its the most effective and that its the best hair treatment.

    Thanks.

Hello – this is how I get 6 months and more out of my treatment. During those 3 days after I get up every morning and pretend I washed my hair, I blow it dry my sections and I flat iron it again at low heat about 200 degrees this has helped with the 3 day icky look too. My stylist gets 6-8 mos out of all her Coppola treatments, I use all KC products only and I love my hair which BTW is frizz central without it.

You really should wait at least two weeks to color your hair after treatment. It won’t really ruin anything, but it might diminish the effects of the treatment, and you will need to have it redone sooner than usual. My advice would be to have your hair color done before you get the treatment next time. Good Luck!!

I sweated in my hair during the 72 hour process. Nothing major but I perspire around my forehead and next. Once I was home, I blow dried my hair but did not flat iron it because I’m not good with one and didn’t want to risk bending my hair. Will the sweat damage it? My 72 hours is up today so I will wash it with Coppola Keratin products but I wasn’t sure what to expect.

Ihad to use a lot more product because her hair is so thick! She just came from her hair dresser who was scared to do it becuase she had never done it and she was astounded at how it looked and felt. I would definetly give it a try. It won’t hurt it , it will only help it! :)

Hi. I did this yesterday and as I left my stylist said I needed to get extra virgin coconut oil and apply a small amount “right away” to help stop some breakage I had from getting my color done (stupidly!) while on vacation. I just applied about a teaspoon’s worth and told her I did and she said she meant for me to wait til after the first shampoo. Have I damaged my treatment? I am doing everything else right, no water, smoothing it now and then with flatiron, no other product on it. Help! thank you.

I live my natural beachy waves – but I can’t handle the frizz! I don’t use heat (except on my bangs), I never dye my hair, I always let it air dry, I use anti-frizz shampoo/conditioner, etc but nothing helps. I want to do this treatment but I want to keep my waves! I don’t want straight boring hair!

Hi. I do copolla keratin and I have found that it does straighten curl more than you would think. So for my curly haired guests that want to keep their curl, you can substitute using a curling iron instead of a flat iron (as long as you have one that will reach 400 degrees) I’ve done it several times and works great!

I use Majik Protection Keratin Hair treatment (a TINY amount before I dry my hair), but I want to try Coppola’s Keratin Complex Infusion Keratin Replenisher which my hair person recommends. She said it will help the treatment last … but doesn’t think it’s necessary to use in the first few weeks after the treatment. I use DermOranics (aragon oil) on my hair before blowing it dry for a while after having the treatment. When I start using Majik Protection or the Replenisher, I’ll use the oil after drying it when needed.

Right now I have frizzy, thick, somewhat unruly curly/wavy hair. I want it smooth, but I want to maintain some of the waves… I’m going for a “beach wave” look. Should I wash the hair sooner than 72 hours to ensure this happens, or is there a different formula that my stylist will use to ensure that my hair doesn’t come out stick-straight?

    • DorotheaOctober 23, 2011 at 8:46 pm

no, she definitely should have flat ironed it!!! To get it done properly your hair should be washed with a clarifying shampoo, blow dried, and flat ironed @ about 450 degrees. Your hair for the first 3 days after treatment should be kept flat and straight @ all times. If you get it damp in anyway or get creases in it within those first three days you should blow dry it pronto and touch it up with a flat iron. Because your hair wasn’t flat ironed, the keratin wasn’t sealed into your hair; hence, the treatment is not going to last and your hair will not be straighter if that’s what you were seeking. I would definitely go back to that salon and insist that they redo it the right way or give you your money back.

This is the second time I’ve had the treatment done. I LOVE IT. I was wondering about the water in my shower because we have a water softener. Does the salt in the softener strip away at the treatment?
The first time I had it done I was diligent to use distilled water to rinse my hair, but that gets old quick. This time, I’ve been just rinsing in the shower. The treatment lasted almost 6 months for me before. I really need a reply on this one if you could pass along some tips.

Hi, I had my Keratin done 4 weeks ago this is my 5th time in 3 years. I know the process well. We just got a salt water softener for the entire house and a filtration system too. Well my keratin is leaving my hair too. Just saw my hair dresser yesterday and we were both in disbelief since I just had this done. I bought gallons of water from the grocery store to run the experiment to see if indeed my soft water is ruining my keratin treatment. Did you have any luck? I don’t know what to do. washing hair in sink is going to get really old fast……

I too live in a home with a water softener, and it appears to be ruining my keratin treatment. This was the first time I had the treatment, and it seemed great at first – definitely shortened dry time and had straightened my curly hair. Less than a month later, my hair is super frizzy again, though most of the curl is not back yet. I had not thought about the water softener effecting it otherwise I would have asked my hairdresser first. =(
If anyone knows of treatments or conditioners that can be used and still shower with softened water, please let me know!

I have had the Keratin tratment several times. I say several because my hair is short & grows very fast. If I didn’t have this treatment I would look like Shirley Temple in the summer with all the humidity. I also have a water softener in my home & I have not seen any difference since I also have another home without it. I see no difference. I think it also depends on the person that does the treatment. I have had it done by 3 different stylists. Each time the results were different. If you read the directions it says to leave on for 20 min. before drying & flat ironing it. That works the BEST. The first time I had a Coppola Keratin treatment I felt like I died & went to heaven. I’ve struggled with my unruly hair forever & I am a licensed hairdresser. I wish I could do it myself but I know it would be a bit difficult. Please don’t use any of those other straightening products, they will only damage your hair.

Takes long to dry, doesn’t feel good either. Can’t even tell I had treatment done. I don’t know what problem is. Going back to my stylist to see what problem is. I don’t think I’ll ever do it again.

Although I will try and not go underwater, I have a 7 year old, and it is practically inconceivable that I won’t be submerged in Chlorine. What will be the effects? I just got Keratin treatment for the first time today. The stylist blow dried my hair but when she flat ironed it she curled the ends. I left there with bouncy curls. Isn’t it supposed to stay poker straight for the 72 hours? Did she ruin it? I came home and tried to straighten it but it’s still bouncy and I hate it. I hope it’s not permanant but I can’t wash it and see for 72 hours.

I am glad I decided to look at your website. My salon applies the product two different ways calling one an express treatment. The difference is significant as far as the cost goes. The express treatment does not allow for the 20 min time for the product to set. They apply it and then they dry it and hot iron right away. I have had this done twice before and the results were great. It seems to last me about 3 to 4 months because I don’t wash my hair too often.
The big thing that they did not tell me was to keep my hair straight and not wash it for 72 hours. I am really upset about that. This time I will wait that long and see if there is a difference. I was told to only wait 8 hours. I am sure that would impact the treatment.
Thanks for all the good info.

I have wavy hair that is frizzy. I’d like to keep it wavy, but get rid of the frizz. So my hair shouldn’t be flat-ironed at the salon I guess? But what is the process at the salon then for this – how do you seal in the keratin without flat-ironing the hair? Thank you!

    Hi,
I had a Coppola treatment last year and was told of the 72-hour rule.
I just called a salon who does the treatment for less as they said they use your products, but that I only needed to observe that rule for 24 hours, as their treatment is ‘stronger’ than the one that requires 3 days. They also said it should last for about 3 months, but that depends on how I take care of it.

Do you think they could be offering “the Express”, whatever that is???

Something sounds fishy….. Can you clarify what might be going on here?

    Thx

Hi, I got the Keratin treatment done for the first time August 2008 and I LOVED IT!!!! My hair was very long and unmanageable before, but it is safe to say the Keratin changed my life:) I got the treatment several times after with the same results … you heard no complaints from me. Then, my hairdresser got into some other products (Global Keratin and the Brazilian Blowout) neither of these treatments came close for me to how I felt about the Keratin treatment. My question is: did I somehow ruin my hair from these other treatments because I went back to the Coppola Keratin Treatment in Dec. 2011 and it did not last but maybe 2 months compared to 6 – 12 months when I first started and the quality of my hair is not even close. I also want to know if the formula was changed from when I first used it in 2008?

One last thing…I read your whole webpage paying close attention to the steps of the process and watched the video and I think my hairdresser did not wash my hair 3 times, but only once and she didn’t blow dry it after shampooing before applying treatment…is this going to significantly hurt the results of my ttreatment this time?

    Thank you,
    Liz

I just had my keratin done Olin Friday afternoon and today sunday will be 48 hrs and I’m desperate to wash my hair because I’m a doctor and at work I cannot wear my hair done without ponytail – what happens if I wash it today??? Coppolakwratin is awesome by the way! It’s my second time using it!

Hi, i am thinking about getting the CKT for my 12 year old daughter who is bi-racial. She has very tight coiled curls. Will this loosen the curl or will her hair be straight? I would like to see pics of someone with similar hair who has had the treatment and let’s their hair air dry. She likes straight styles but would also love to be able to wear her hair down amd curly. Also, if anyone who knows of any salons in Vancouver, WA that would be great. Thanks so much!

I have a swimming pool. Will it ruin my hair if it does get wet in the pool after 72 hours?

Chlorine will effect the keratin treatment and will cause it to fade out faster from your hair. I would wear a swim cap or keep your hair out of the water as much as possible to keep the treatment lasting as long as possible.

I have fine, dry, natrually curly (very curly) hair. I have never had good hair – or even hair that felt like hair and uncontrollably frizzy in the spring and summer months. Got a Coppola treatment this past Saturday and hair looked gorgeous straight but I had my doubts what it would look like after I was able to wash it. Yesterday after work was test time. My hair looked amazing with no product at all. Today my hair was shiny, had a beautiful, relaxed curl, moved when I moved my head. I am so impressed. I actually cried because I have had “bad hair” ever since I can remember and today I had a good hair day – even with high humidity and basically washing and going (a little product). Went back to the salon where the treatment was done and the hairdresser was even impressed with how well it worked. YAY for Coppola keratin treatment.

I much prefer using Cocoa Keratin System which is Brazilian treatment too and lasts for up to 5 months but it’s MUCH safer on my hair and scalp. It smoothes my hair, moisturizes it and repairs it. It contains Argan oil so it’s super beneficial for all hair types!

I’m glad you mentioned the razor cutitng tip because I was thinking it would be best if I asked for them to use a razor when I went in next but I have frizzy, thin hair. Thanks so much! Hopefully they can help me find a way to style my long, frizzy hair (when drying naturally, it frizzes) into something manageable!

I just had the treatment done yesterday and was told I can wash my hair tomorrow. One thing I didnt realize is the chlorine and swimming. I just put a pool in and will be out in the sun alot as well as getting my hair wet. I have the shampoo and conditioner I was told to use. How long can I expect the treatment to last with chlorine and being in the sun? Is there anything else I can to or apply to it prior to swimming to help protect it somewhat?

I want to try the treatment at home. When I usually straighten my hair, I use a 2 inch wide barrel curling iron to pull the hair straight with a slight bend in the ends so it’s not stick straight and has a little more body than with a flat iron. When I do the treatment, can I use the curing iron instead of the flat iron so I can get the ends to go under? (my hair is just above my shoulder and I have a lot of hair, so it looks a little lifeless when the ends are perfectly straight)

I had a spiral perm about 5 months before getting the Coppola straightner. I was told it would be fine. I paid $350 for the treatment. I use the coppola shampoo as well. My hair is so tangled when i get out of shower that it takes a while to brush it out and to get the brush through it. It still is frizzy after i let it air dry. I do not have time to flat iron it every day so i am back to having to wear it in a ponytail daily which is what i was trying to NOT have to do. Any suggestions???

I JUST cam back from the stylist. I finished the 72-hour rule. My hair is glossy, smooth, and frizz free. I purchased the shampoo and conditioner, as well. I love it so far. I know it’s too soon, but I thought it was impossible to tame my kinky hair. She took before and after shots and the results are amazing!

I wanted to know if the treatment actually eliminated the curl in the hair? I have very curly hair, and although I love my curly hair, I would love to be able to straighten it once a while. I’ve had some of my friends get a keratin treatment done and their hair seemed dull and more wavy than curly. I would like to get the treatment done as I heard this is the best, but I’m just worried about losing my curls for good:( please help!!

I have medium length, very fine, naturally straight, dark blonde hair with no body and that has been highlighted pretty light. My hair gets very oily at the roots and is dry at the ends. I have to wash my hair at least once a day or it looks very oily and dirty. My hair has breakage from past highlighting and from daily styling at many levels from top to bottom. My stylist believes that it will benefit my hair to use the Coppola treatment. My worry is that it will make my hair flat and more oily looking. Should I try this treatment??

Hi! I have curly red hair (think Brave, seriously) and finally found a HENNA product that matches for my incoming grey roots. Henna is not compatible with chemicals, so I want to be sure it’s ok with the keratin before I do it!!
Can KERATIN please tell me if this is safe. Any other feedback? Thanks! Sheila

Okay, I will say I have been using the treatment since 2009 it has been the best thing for my hair. But I have experienced that the treatment strips my hair color regardless of doing the 2 weeks prior to service. Even my hairdresser noticed that my hair color is always stripped after applying. So as my own hair rule I color mine 2 weeks after the treatment. I don’t know why this happens to my hair, but it does. I like to wear my hair black and my natural color is brown, and when I leave the salon after my keratin treatment (i go every 3 months) my hair is brown until I re-color it two weeks after the treatment back to black.

Does having highlights (Bleached) affect the Keratin treatment? In the past I have had a touchup, hightlights & then the Keratin in the same day without a problem. The new stylist did nothing to my highlights when she did the treatment. Can I now get highlights after the 2 weeks?

Is sodium chloride the ONLY chemical that will ruin the treatment? There are other types of chloride in my conditioners. Are they okay? What about other types of sodium?

I was wondering if this product is safe for african american women with fine, chemically relaxed hair? I am trying to slowly transition away from relaxers but dont do the natural look.

      Hi Nik,

I too am trying to move away from relaxer and don’t do the natural look. I just had my Copolla treatment yesterday and was very nervous about it. I can tell you, I have problem hair (dry texture) and it will just break by looking at it. Today my hair is silky straight and sooo extremely soft! I do need to get a trim as it is very straight but all in all satisfied as it’s not breaking and shedding which is what I was worried about. So far so good, keeping my fingers crossed!

I got the Coppola keratin treatment on thurs at 5 pm and was wondering if I could wash it on sun at 2pm? It feels really string and gross and would like it clean for Easter. Has anyone washed their hair just short of the 72hour mark? Will it be ruined if I wash it a little early? Thanks for your help!!

I get keratin treatments in my hair every 6 weeks and the Shielo Smoothing Products (With the hair oil) are excellent in deep treating my hair to maintain my treatment. Leaves hair smelling wonderful even after hair has been rinsed and blow dried. Get the Shielo products – they will make the treatment last WEEKS longer, and you will save so much money in the long run.
